The Faculty of Dental Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL), marked this year’s World Oral Health Day with a successful outreach programme aimed at promoting oral hygiene and providing free dental care services to the public.

The event, held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the UNILAG Medical Centre, Akoka, was themed “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind.” It featured a series of activities designed to raise awareness about oral health and offer professional dental services to attendees.

During the outreach, experts delivered insightful discussions on common oral health issues, early warning signs, and available treatment options. Participants benefitted from free oral examinations, professional dental cleanings, and dental fillings. Additionally, an awareness campaign was conducted to inform attendees about the newly opened Dental Clinic at the UNILAG Medical Centre.

Individuals requiring specialized dental care were referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for further treatment. The initiative underscored the faculty’s commitment to ensuring that quality dental care remains accessible to the public.

The programme was widely attended and appreciated by members of the university community and the general public, further reinforcing the importance of oral health in overall well-being.
