EKSU Secures 4th Place at NAPE/NMGS Conference, Outshines Major Universities
Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, achieved 4th place at the recently concluded 12th Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) Conference, outperforming prominent universities including the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, achieved 4th place at the recently concluded 12th Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) Conference, outperforming prominent universities including the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
The conference, held at Kwara State University, Malete, ran from 28th to 30th August 2025, bringing together participants from 22 universities nationwide. EKSU was represented by ten (10) 300-level students from the Department of Geology, accompanied by two academic staff, with sponsorship from the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation (TOF).
The event’s theme, “Bridging the Knowledge Gap: Enhancing Geoscience Education for Sustainable Development,” featured competitive oral and poster presentations. At the end of the conference, EKSU proudly secured 4th position, trailing only the University of Ilorin, Federal University of Technology, Minna, and Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.
Professor Adeyinka Aturamu, Head of the Department of Geology and leader of the EKSU delegation, described the conference as a valuable learning and networking opportunity for both staff and students. He expressed appreciation to EKSU Management and the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation (TOF) for their support in facilitating the university’s participation.
