Elsevier, Dutch academic publishing company, seeks partnership with Federal University of Lafia , Mr. Victor Okeugo, the Regional Accounts Manager of Elsevier for Sub-Saharan Africa, stated that Elsevier ranks publications, citations and research works globally, adding that it publishes journals such as The Lancet, Cell, the ScienceDirect, Trends, the Current Opinion.
Elsevier, a Dutch academic publishing company, seeks partnership with the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) to promote academic research and publication.
Speaking during a meeting with the authorities of the Federal University of Lafia, Mr. Victor Okeugo, the Regional Accounts Manager of Elsevier for Sub-Saharan Africa, stated that Elsevier ranks publications, citations and research works globally, adding that it publishes journals such as The Lancet, Cell, the ScienceDirect, Trends, the Current Opinion.
According to the Elsevier representative, the planned partnership with FULafia would assist the University to ensure the quality of its research works and provide researchers with the right tools.
In his remarks, the, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, thanked Elsevier for identifying with the institution, saying that"it is a privilege to partner with the Elsevier Networking Company in order to improve our academic performance and ranking.”
Abdul Rahman emphasised that "Elsevier's vision is important to all of us because it is in line with the vision of my administration which is to have FULafia to be among the top five universities in Africa.”
Abdul Rahman, therefore, advised that the academics should work in line with the vision of the University, adding that it was also necessary for them to synergise and ensure they work with the right tools to make their research works better.
The meeting, which held at the Old Senate Chamber, Permanent Site Campus, FULafia, had in attendance the Country Representative (Nigeria) of Elsevier N. B. Netherlands, Dr. Usman Ibrahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Amali, Registrar, Abdu, Bursar, Wilson, Librarian, Iyoro, and all deans and directors of the University.
