The Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie has revealed the university's strategic initiative to propel itself into the realm of technological fabrications and product commercialization.

In a groundbreaking announcement, the Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, revealed the university's strategic initiative to propel itself into the realm of technological fabrications and product commercialization.

During a press briefing marking the commencement of activities for the 19th convocation ceremony, Prof. Okolie outlined key measures taken by the university's management to foster entrepreneurial reinvention. He disclosed that ESUT has entered into Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with reputable organizations and vendors to spearhead this transformative journey.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized the university's commitment to revitalizing teaching and research, with a substantial 60% focus on capacity building and enhancing the employability of its graduates. Prof. Okolie announced imminent partnerships, including an MoU with the Council of Entrepreneurs for Africa (COEFA), Ottawa, Canada, aiming to revolutionize teaching and research methodologies.

Highlighting the pursuit of excellence in engineering, ESUT is in the process of finalizing an MoU with a U.S. service provider specializing in automation. The establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Engineering reflects the university's dedication to fostering innovation.

To further solidify its position in the academic landscape, ESUT has inked agreements with East-wing Aviation Institute in Emene, Enugu State, for practical training in the Faculty of Engineering. Additionally, a collaboration with Cyber Infrastructure Ltd. on e-library services, publishing, and management is underway.

The Vice Chancellor also addressed challenges facing the university, including porous boundaries, encroachment, and inadequate infrastructure. Prof. Okolie appealed to Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for practical measures to re-establish ESUT boundaries and fence the university.

Despite these challenges, the university's commitment to academic excellence is evident in the selection of five distinguished individuals for Honorary Awards. The awardees include Rev. Surveyor Ugochukwu Chime, Group Managing Director of COPEN Group; Mr. Osagie Okunbor; Mr. Ike Chioke; Prince Uchenna Umeukeje; and Emperor Baywood Chris Ibeh.

The Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by the university's management, inspected research projects displayed by 11 faculties. Plans are underway to collaborate with consulting firms to commercialize these research works, marking a significant step towards bringing innovative solutions to societal problems.

The 19th convocation ceremony is poised to award a total of 11,377 graduands, comprising 9,085 first degrees, 465 postgraduate diplomas, 1,177 Master’s degrees, and 650 Ph.Ds, further solidifying ESUT's commitment to academic excellence and technological advancement.
