Everything You Need to Know About ESUT Postgraduate Admissions

Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is renowned for its commitment to excellence in education and research. As part of its academic offerings, ESUT provides opportunities for postgraduate studies, including Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Master’s Degree programs.

Admission Criteria:

ESUT welcomes applications from diverse academic backgrounds. Prospective PGD candidates should fulfill the following criteria:

1. Holders of first-degree qualifications from ESUT or other approved universities, acceptable to the Senate.

2. Individuals with good grades in non-first degree qualifications, including HND (Upper Credit and Above) in relevant disciplines, HND (Lower Credit) with five years of relevant post-qualification experience, and holders of various professional qualifications.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates seeking admission to the PGD program at ESUT must adhere to the following steps:

1. Recommendation by the Departmental Postgraduate Studies Committee.

2. Approval by the Faculty Postgraduate Studies Committee and the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies.

3. Acceptance of admission within three months of the offer.

4. Registration at the beginning of the session, with the option for deferral under acceptable circumstances.

Program Structure:

The PGD program at ESUT is structured as follows:

1. Mode of Study: Coursework and a creative research project, approved by the Senate.

2. Full-time or part-time enrollment options.

3. Duration: Minimum of 12 calendar months for full-time students and 18 months for part-time students.

Examination and Assessment:

To successfully complete the PGD program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Completion of a workload comprising at least 28 to 36 credit hours, including a research project.

2. Semester-end examinations for each course.

3. Minimum passing grade of C (50) on a 5-point grade scale.

4. Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 for the award of the Diploma certificate.

5. Oral examination for the defense of the project report.

Duration of Master’s Program:

For those pursuing a Master’s degree at ESUT, the program duration is as follows:

1. Minimum of 12 calendar months for full-time students and 18 months for part-time students.

2. Maximum duration of three years for full-time students and four years for part-time students.

3. Possibility of extension in special circumstances, subject to approval by the Senate.
