Ex-LASU VC Highlights Societal Disarray as Root Cause of Nigeria’s Challenges

Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU) and an expert in Environmental Law, delivered a thought-provoking address at the Alao Aka-Bashorun lecture organized by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja branch. He attributed Nigeria's socio-economic challenges more to societal disarray than institutional deficiencies, emphasizing the collective moral responsibility and ethical conduct needed across all levels of society.
Speaking passionately, Prof. Fagbohun highlighted the critical role of upholding the rule of law and ethical standards, urging Nigerians to prioritize truthfulness and accountability. He underscored the judiciary's pivotal role in national development, advocating for its enhancement to facilitate Nigeria's progress.
Commending the NBA Ikeja branch for honoring the late legal luminary, Alao Aka-Bashorun, Prof. Fagbohun praised Aka-Bashorun’s legacy of integrity and activism in the pursuit of justice. Justice Abiola Soladoye, chairing the event, echoed these sentiments, urging legal professionals to maintain decorum and ethical standards in their practice.
