The PDE is a two-semester weekend programme designed to equip graduates from various fields with the pedagogical knowledge and practical skills required for effective teaching. It also qualifies successful candidates to register as professional teachers with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). The diploma is recognized as equivalent to the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) awarded by Nigerian universities.
Programme Structure
The PDE is structured to provide both theoretical and practical exposure to teaching methods, curriculum studies, educational psychology, and classroom management. The programme is open to individuals seeking to transition into the education sector or enhance their teaching credentials for career advancement.
Available Specialisations
The following areas of study are available for the 2025/2026 session:
- PDE (Secondary Education – Arts): English, Literature, Religious Studies, History, and related disciplines.
- PDE (Secondary Education – Science): Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science.
- PDE (Technical Education): Fine and Applied Arts, Agricultural Education, Business Education, Home Economics, Computer Science, and related technical fields.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or an equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognized institution. Candidates with relevant teaching or industry experience will have an added advantage.
