LASU Directorate of Advancement Deepens Partnership with Royal Fathers and Local Governments in Epe Division

The Lagos State University Directorate of Advancement (LASUDA) has strengthened its relationship with traditional rulers and local government authorities in the Epe Division of Lagos State as part of its strategic efforts to mobilise support for institutional growth and community engagement.

The Lagos State University Directorate of Advancement (LASUDA) has strengthened its relationship with traditional rulers and local government authorities in the Epe Division of Lagos State as part of its strategic efforts to mobilise support for institutional growth and community engagement.

The engagement, held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, forms part of LASUDA’s initiative to secure endowments for the best graduating students at the University’s Epe Campus and to attract sponsorships for its Educational Outreach Programme, which targets public senior secondary schools across Education District III (Epe Zone).

Led by the Director of LASUDA, Professor Rafiu Okuneye, the delegation commenced the visit at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animasahun (Arolugbade Elepe II), the Oloja of Epe Land. The team, accompanied by the Head of Epe Campus, Professor Elkanah Oyetunji, and other members of staff, was warmly received by the monarch.

In his address, the Oloja of Epe commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, for her visionary leadership and the remarkable transformation Lagos State University continues to record under her administration. He also applauded the LASUDA team for its commitment to advancing the University’s developmental goals and pledged his continued support for both the Directorate and the institution.

The delegation thereafter paid a visit to the Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where they were received by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, a proud alumnus of LASU. Hon. Akinloye lauded the Directorate’s initiatives and assured the Council’s readiness to support LASUDA’s projects and partnership objectives.

At the Epe Local Government Secretariat, the team was received by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Tunde Odupe, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Surah O. Animasahun. He commended LASUDA’s outreach efforts and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting the University’s advancement initiatives.

The final visit was to the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat, where the LASUDA team was hosted by the Vice-Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, who promised to convey their message to the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, and assured the delegation of the Council’s willingness to collaborate on future projects.

In a related development, the Directorate extended its Educational Outreach Programme to Omole Senior Grammar School on Thursday, October 23, 2025, where eleven schools benefited from the interactive session.

Since its inception in 2024, the outreach initiative, themed “Catch Them Early,” has impacted over fifty secondary schools across Lagos State, inspiring students towards academic excellence, moral integrity, and purposeful living.

Through these engagements, LASUDA continues to build sustainable partnerships that promote academic growth, community empowerment, and educational advancement — in alignment with the vision of the ninth substantive Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.
