Federal Government Commences Six-Week SUPA Training at FCE Obudu

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), has commenced a six-week intensive training programme under the Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) initiative, designating the Federal College of Education (FCE) Obudu as one of its training centres.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), has commenced a six-week intensive training programme under the Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) initiative, designating the Federal College of Education (FCE) Obudu as one of its training centres.

The training, which began on Monday, August 4, 2025, will run until September 13, 2025, and has drawn artisans and skilled workers from across Cross River State and neighbouring communities. SUPA is a flagship programme of the Federal Government aimed at upgrading the technical and professional competencies of Nigerian artisans to meet global standards.

At FCE Obudu, the programme is focused on three core areas: Occupational Health and Safety, where participants are trained on safety procedures, risk assessment, hazard control, and emergency response to reduce workplace accidents; Professional Ethics and Patriotism, which stresses integrity, accountability, responsibility, and love for country in professional practice; and Project Management, equipping artisans with essential skills in planning, budgeting, execution, supervision, and client relations.

The initiative seeks to boost workplace effectiveness, improve safety standards, and instil ethical values among Nigerian artisans. By enhancing skills and professionalism, the SUPA programme supports the broader national goal of promoting self-reliance, job creation, and high-quality service delivery. The training is expected to significantly improve the competitiveness and contribution of artisans to the national economy.
