Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji Students Die in Ondo Road Crash; Driver Arrested

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a driver involved in a tragic accident on the Akure-Ondo Expressway that resulted in the deaths of two Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji students. The accident occurred in the Olokuta community, Akure South Local Government Area.
The victims, Chukwu Athanasius and Oladokun Oyindamola, were riding a motorcycle when they were struck by a speeding Toyota Camry. The collision caused their immediate deaths. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that the driver of the Toyota Camry is now in police custody, while the deceased have been moved to a morgue.
According to Mr. Samuel Ibitoye from the Ondo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident was likely caused by excessive speed and improper overtaking. Ibitoye noted that the crash, which involved a red motorcycle, was a head-on collision and emphasized the need for road users to follow traffic regulations.
In response to the incident, the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council, Ondo State Chapter, expressed their condolences. The statement, signed by Oluwarotimi Tobiloba Joshua, Oluwanishola Ajibola, and Kehinde Blessing, described the incident as a significant loss to the student community.
