In a bid to promote sportsmanship and foster unity among students, the Students Union Government (SUG) of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has announced two major upcoming events: the NIPOGA (National Polytechnic Games) and the SUG Games.

NIPOGA, an Inter-Polytechnic Games involving institutions from across Nigeria, is slated to take place in Delta State. Simultaneously, the SUG Games will commence next month, encompassing a variety of sports for both male and female participants.

SUG Director of Sports, Ikeagwu Johnmark Chizube, emphasizes the importance of student involvement in these events. "We want the students to participate in all the sports activities," Chizube stated. "It's an opportunity for our students to showcase their talent and represent our institution."

Sports featured in the upcoming events include football, basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton, long tennis, table tennis, and athletics, including marathon running.

Registration for participation is open and free of charge. Training sessions are scheduled every Saturday from 7 am to 10 am and every Wednesday from 12 pm to 6 pm at the school stadium.

"We encourage all interested students to register and join us in these exciting events," Chizube urged. "Let's come together, keep sporting, and make Federal Polytechnic Nekede proud!"
