Federal University of Technology Owerri Celebrates Remarkable Graduation of 5,091 Students at Combined Convocation
In a grand celebration of academic achievement, the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) is set to confer degrees upon a total of 5,091 students during its combined 34th and 35th convocation ceremony on Saturday.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Nnenna N. Oti, shared details of the momentous occasion in a pre-convocation press briefing held on Tuesday. The graduating class comprises two sets of students from the academic sessions 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, with the first set totaling 3,865 students and the second set comprising 1,226 students.

Prof Nnenna N. Oti highlighted the impressive academic performance of the graduating class. In the first set, there are 57 students who achieved first-class honors, 1,086 students with second-class upper honors, 2,477 students with second-class lower honors, and 245 students with third-class honors. The second set recorded 63 first-class graduates, 591 with second-class upper honors, 544 with second-class lower honors, and 28 with third-class honors.

The academic accomplishments span across nine schools of the institution, demonstrating the diverse expertise fostered by FUTO. The schools include the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, School of Electrical Systems Engineering Technology, School of Information and Communication Technology, School of Management Technology, School of Biological Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences, School of Health Technology, and School of Physical Sciences.
