FG Plans New Secondary School Curriculum Rollout by September 2024
"It is our plan that by September, this new curriculum will be fully implemented across all schools, both public and private," Mamman stated.
The Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, announced on Thursday that a new curriculum will be implemented in secondary schools nationwide by September 2024.
Speaking at the ongoing 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board policy meeting in Abuja, Mamman emphasized the government's commitment to the initiative, which has been in development over the past year. He also highlighted that a stakeholders' meeting is scheduled for August 6, 2024, to finalize details.
"It is our plan that by September, this new curriculum will be fully implemented across all schools, both public and private," Mamman stated.
The decision to introduce a new curriculum comes amidst concerns raised by the National Senior Secondary School Education Commission about the challenges facing the sector, including infrastructural deficits, inadequate teaching staff, outdated curriculum, and poorly equipped libraries and laboratories.
