Former Education Minister Ezekwesili Joins Activist Yesufu in Rejecting New National Anthem, Citing Constitutional Violations

Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has voiced her support for activist Aisha Yesufu's rejection of the newly adopted national anthem, "Nigeria We Hail Thee." Ezekwesili stated she would continue to sing the previous anthem, "Arise, O Compatriots," citing constitutional breaches by President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly in the process of changing the anthem.

A video of Yesufu refusing to recite the new anthem went viral, with the activist declaring it as "#NotMyNationalAnthem." Ezekwesili echoed this sentiment on social media, asserting that the change did not follow proper constitutional procedures and that she would not comply with what she termed a violation of the Constitution.
