FULafia SSANU Joins Nationwide Protest Over Withheld Salaries
FULafia's SSANU chapter protests non-payment of four months withheld salaries, demanding immediate action from the Federal Government.
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has joined their counterparts in public universities across the country in protesting the non-payment of their four months withheld salaries. This action follows a directive from the national leadership of SSANU.
Mr. Daniel Dajen, Chairman of the FULafia SSANU chapter, addressed the protestors on Tuesday at the university campus. He emphasized that the protest was necessitated by the Federal Government's lack of commitment to resolving the issue of withheld salaries. Despite numerous meetings with government representatives, the demands of SSANU have not been met.

"University workers, particularly the non-academic and senior staff, have shown remarkable patience and understanding in seeking an amicable resolution, even in the face of significant economic hardship caused by the non-payment of salaries," Dajen stated.
The protest, which took place at the university's sports complex, saw workers marching through the campus carrying leaves and placards with various inscriptions, calling for immediate action from the Federal Government to avert further disruption in public universities.
