FULOKOJA Faculty of Engineering Validates Programme Educational Objectives in Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
The Faculty of Engineering, on Wednesday, 4th March 2026, convened a strategic stakeholders meeting for the formulation and validation of Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) for the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering, in alignment with Washington Accord standards.
The meeting recorded large attendance from industry leaders, parents, students, professional bodies, academic staff, and the University Management. The broad participation reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to outcome-based education, global best practices, and the production of industry-ready graduates.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibleye, who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. S. D. Musa, commended the Faculty for organising the stakeholders' meeting, which he described as an agenda-setting engagement that will give direction to the engineering programmes and assurance to the students.
He affirmed Management’s commitment to the Engineering Faculty through the necessary support and attention extended to it since its establishment, assuring that more support would come to ensure that the programmes were fully accredited by the relevant supervisory and professional bodies, and for the Faculty to reach its full potential.
Earlier in his keynote address, the Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Engr. Dr. Razaq Olawale Medupin, outlined the Faculty’s vision of producing skilled, innovative, and socially responsible engineers. The Dean emphasized that the goal of the Faculty is not only to churn out graduates with theoretical knowledge alone, but also to develop professionals who possess strong practical skills, ethical values, and the ability to solve real-life problems facing society.
The strategic engagement witnessed the presence of other principal officers and Management staff, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. J. A. Badaki; Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Musa Yusufu Abdullahi; Director of Distance and E-learning, Prof. M. A. Ibrahim; and the representative of the Registrar, Dr. Fatima Abubakar.
In their respective contributions, they commended the three Departments for embracing a participatory and quality-driven approach to programme development and assured stakeholders of Management’s support towards accreditation and continuous improvement.
Also, the meeting was enriched by the presence of respected industry professionals and distinguished guests, such as Engr. Iliya Solomon Zakwoi, Director, Advance Aircraft Engineering Laboratory, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA); Engr. Umah Saleh, an engineer at NASDRA; and Engr. Adanu I. Emmanuel, Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Lokoja Branch.
Others were Engr. Bello Kolawole, NSE Lokoja Branch Technical Secretary; and Engr. Mepaiyeda Oyindamola, a representative of the General Manager, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria. They emphasised the need for stronger industry–academia collaboration, innovation-driven training, ethical practice, and entrepreneurial capacity among graduates.
