FUNAAB Hosts ACOMORAN Leadership in Gratitude Visit
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) hosted the leadership of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Tricycle Repairers, Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ogun State Chapter, in a visit of gratitude on September 12, 2025.
The visit highlighted the university's role in community transformation and moral reorientation.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, welcomed the delegation and commended ACOMORAN's commitment to leadership and character development. He noted that the association's evolution from skill-based operators to value-driven leaders is a testament to the power of knowledge and discipline.
The Ogun State Chairman of ACOMORAN, Mr. Kayode Sowunmi, was particularly commended by the Vice-Chancellor for his innovative leadership philosophy, which has reshaped the identity of the association. Mr. Sowunmi expressed gratitude to FUNAAB for its enduring partnership and noted that the collaboration has produced better riders, parents, and citizens.
The visit underscores the importance of partnerships in advancing sustainable development. ACOMORAN pledged to deepen its collaboration with FUNAAB, aligning with the global call for quality education and partnerships that promote sustainable development (SDG 4, SDG 16, and SDG 17). This initiative reflects the university's commitment to contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals through community engagement and capacity-building programs.
The partnership between FUNAAB and ACOMORAN serves as a model for community-university collaboration, demonstrating how academic institutions can drive positive change in their surrounding communities. By working together, both parties have been able to achieve mutual goals and foster a culture of responsibility and civic engagement. The university community looks forward to continuing and expanding this partnership to address emerging challenges and opportunities.
