The seedlings, generously donated by Alhaji Salihu Imam, Chairman of the National Coffee and Tea Association of Nigeria (Oyo State chapter), are expected to reach maturity within two years. Coffee is one of the most valuable commodities exported by developing countries, and this initiative by FUNAAB aligns with global efforts to support the livelihoods of over 75 million people who depend on the coffee trade.

In addition to the coffee seedlings, FUNAAB planted 42 soursop seedlings alongside them. This strategic diversification is part of the university's broader initiative to maximize land use while contributing to food security and agricultural sustainability.

The project reflects FUNAAB’s commitment to pioneering innovative agricultural practices, boosting Nigeria’s coffee production, and positioning the nation in the global commodity market.
