FUNAAB Partners Hybrid Feeds, Receives ₦1.4m Worth of Animal Feed

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), through its Centre for Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS), on March 24, 2026, received a donation of animal feed valued at ₦1,400,036, from Hybrid Feeds, a leading animal feed production firm in Nigeria.

The donation, which comprised 80 bags of animal feed, was received on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, by the Director of COBFAS, Prof. Dare Akerele. He commended Hybrid Feeds for its commitment to youth development and adult training programmes, noting that such initiatives distinguish the company as a strategic partner in agricultural advancement. He added that the University Management deeply appreciated the gesture and looked forward to a mutually beneficial collaboration.

Speaking further, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the company’s prompt response to the University’s partnership proposal signalled a promising and fruitful relationship. He emphasised that FUNAAB students would greatly benefit from the collaboration, particularly in acquiring practical knowledge in animal feed production.

Prof. Kehinde also highlighted the company’s role in exposing students to industry-based experiences, even while they are on campus. He disclosed that the Chief Executive Officer of Hybrid Feeds, Dr. Leye Alayande, had assured the University of adequate training opportunities for students under the COBFAS partnership. He added that the University anticipated continuous engagement from the company’s personnel in sharing industry expertise with students.

In his remarks, Dr. Alayande, who was represented by the Sales Representative, Hybrid Feeds Ibadan 1, Mr. Kolawole Ololade, reaffirmed the company’s readiness to support FUNAAB in student training, provision of animal feed, and other areas of industrial collaboration. He assured that the company would continue to respond positively to the University’s needs within its capacity.

Dr. Alayande explained that the partnership would also cover the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and other industrial training opportunities, encouraging interested students to take advantage of the platform. He further stated that the collaboration aligned with the Federal Government’s drive towards food security and would contribute significantly to strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

Delivering a vote of appreciation on behalf of the students, the Farm Practical Year (FPY) representative, Mr. Ade Oluwapelumi, expressed gratitude to Hybrid Feeds and assured that the support would be judiciously utilised.

The event concluded with the formal presentation of 80 bags of animal feed, along with branded T-shirts and face caps, to the FUNAAB COBFAS team.
