The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has successfully concluded a significant mental health research initiative with the reception of the final report titled "Facework for Mental Health: A Pragma-Linguistic Study of Community/Medical Social Support in Dealing with Covid-19 and Other Life Stressors."

Led by Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale, Vice-Rector of Pan African University (PAU), Cameroon, and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of FUNAAB, the project was funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Fund (NRF). The comprehensive report was presented at the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE) Conference Room, International Scholars' and Resource Centre (IS&RC), FUNAAB.

A key focus of the research was the development of the Mental Health Facework (MHF) tool, a pioneering web-based application aimed at enhancing the screening capabilities for mental health professionals. This innovative tool promises to revolutionize mental health support strategies in Nigeria and beyond.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed his appreciation for the exemplary work of the research team and their invaluable contributions to the advancement of mental health practices. He conveyed this sentiment through Prof. Kola Adebayo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), who represented him at the event.

Prof. Mutiu Busari, Director of the Directorate of Research, Innovations, and Partnerships (DRIP), highlighted the team's achievement as the first among their cohort to successfully complete and submit the project. He encouraged them to pursue further funding opportunities to elevate the impact of their groundbreaking research.

The event garnered participation from various stakeholders, including representatives from the Dean of the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD) and the Head of the Department of Communication and General Studies. Dr. Oluseyi Anjorin, Ag. Director of Health Services at FUNAAB, and Dr. Olanrewaju Sodeinde from Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, were also present, underscoring the collaborative efforts and multidisciplinary approach of the research project.
