The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has approved a special subsidy on gate fees to its Zoological Park for newly admitted students as part of efforts to help them connect with the serene and resourceful environment of the Park.
The initiative, which takes effect on Saturday, September 20, 2025, after the Orientation Programme, and Sunday, September 21, 2025, after the Christian service, will allow fresh students to explore the Zoo Park at a highly discounted rate upon presentation of their admission letters.
Announcing the gesture on September 18, 2025, at the Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building during the opening of the three-day Orientation Programme, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, described the subsidy as a deliberate step to foster early integration of students into the FUNAAB community. He urged them to seek knowledge, take responsibility for their choices, and maximise the vast opportunities offered by the University.

The opening session also featured a rendition of the University Anthem led by Prof. Ishola Odeyemi. The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adosun, advised the students to embrace teamwork, purposeful social engagement, and the discipline of attentive listening, reminding them that no knowledge is ever wasted.
The Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, enlightened the students on the University’s vision, mission, and organisational structure, underscoring its core values of excellence, global relevance, integrity, innovation, and service to humanity. Representing the Bursar, Mr. Valentine Egbuna charged the students to remain focused and dedicated to their studies, while the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, encouraged them to take full advantage of the rich resources in the Nimbe Adedipe Library and the Wole Soyinka Library for their academic success.
The Orientation Programme continues with a series of interactive sessions designed to prepare the new students for academic excellence, personal development, and social adjustment within the University.
