FUNAAB VC Backs Staff Football Team, Pledges Support for Sporting Excellence
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on September 9, 2025, witnessed a show of solidarity as the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, reaffirmed Management’s commitment to the FUNAAB Staff Football Team (FSFT), applauding their contributions to unity, fitness, and the University’s image through sports.
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on September 9, 2025, witnessed a show of solidarity as the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, reaffirmed Management’s commitment to the FUNAAB Staff Football Team (FSFT), applauding their contributions to unity, fitness, and the University’s image through sports.
Welcoming the FSFT Executive and Board Members to his office, Prof. Kehinde drew a parallel between the synergy displayed on the football pitch and the collaboration needed for institutional growth, assuring that the University would remain steadfast in supporting the team.
In a symbolic show of encouragement, the Vice-Chancellor presented two footballs to the players, igniting greater motivation within the squad.

FSFT Coordinator, Mr. Victor Opakunle, in his remarks, thanked the University leadership for its consistent support, pledging that the team would continue to be a “partner in progress.” Echoing the significance of the sport, Board Member, Prof. Dele Akinbode, emphasised that football transcended recreation, describing it as a lifestyle that fosters health, stamina, and resilience.
A highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a souvenir from the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) to the Vice-Chancellor, symbolising the spirit of inter-university friendship and cooperation through football.
With the Vice-Chancellor’s firm backing, the FSFT is poised to keep excelling both on and off the pitch, further advancing FUNAAB’s tradition of excellence through sports.
