The College of Engineering (COLENG) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), held a heartfelt farewell celebration on September 18, 2024, honoring two esteemed retired staff members, Prof. Samson Awokola and Engr. (Dr.) Lawrence Olaoluwa, for their significant contributions to the College and the University.

In remarks delivered by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde praised the retirees for their dedicated service. He highlighted Prof. Awokola’s unwavering commitment and hard work, while commending Engr. (Dr.) Olaoluwa’s professionalism and friendly demeanor throughout their careers at FUNAAB.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, encouraged current staff to emulate the retirees’ exemplary contributions. The Dean of COLENG, Prof. Olawale Dairo, represented by Deputy Dean Prof. Olaide Adetunji, expressed appreciation to the University Management for their support and acknowledged the retirees’ warmth and jovial spirit during their tenure.

Engr. Funmilayo Alayaki, Acting Head of the Civil Engineering Department, lauded the retirees for their distinguished service, asserting that they truly deserved the honors presented to them.

The event also featured tributes from prominent figures, including Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju, Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in FUNAAB, and Dr. Emmanuel Bankole, Acting Director of the Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS).

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of gifts, serving as a fitting tribute to the retirees' enduring legacy of dedication and service to FUNAAB.
