An alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Emmanuel Amoo, alongside his associate Fortune Vaughan, has secured a ₦50 million Federal Government Student Venture Capital Grant under the Federal Ministry of Education initiative implemented in partnership with the Bank of Industry.

The duo emerged winners through the Student Venture Capital Grant Scheme after competing against over 30,000 applicants nationwide. Their startup, CampusAparte, was among 45 finalists selected for funding following a rigorous evaluation process.

Amoo, a Mining Engineering graduate, and Vaughan, a Master’s student in Architecture, initially submitted two startups—VeriProp and CampusAparte—but it was CampusAparte that received the equity-free grant after being assessed as commercially viable.

The initiative, part of a national push to strengthen youth entrepreneurship and innovation, was coordinated through a multi-stage selection process that included a bootcamp held at the UNDP Innovation Centre in Lagos. The programme featured intensive project reviews, mentorship sessions, and pitch presentations in a “Shark Tank-style” format.

According to Amoo, the final phase involved selection from 65 finalists after progressing from an initial pool of over 30,000 applicants. He noted that the grant was formally presented by senior government officials, including the Minister of Education and the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.

CampusAparte is a proptech platform designed to address challenges in student accommodation, including insecurity, fraud, and verification gaps in housing. The platform connects students, parents, landlords, and school administrators through verified listings, escrow-based payments, and AI-driven roommate matching, drawing from models used in advanced housing markets globally.

Amoo described the development as a milestone achievement and expressed appreciation to the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting youth-led innovation and entrepreneurship.

He further disclosed that the venture will be driven by a founding team comprising himself, Fortune Vaughan, and Marvellous Kolawole, with a focus on accelerating user onboarding and platform expansion.
