In a shocking incident, Oladokun Ayomide, a final-year student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been apprehended by the Ogun State police for suspicion of poisoning his girlfriend, Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu, and her friend, Odumosu Semilore.

The arrest unfolded following an alleged poisoning incident that occurred at Ayomide's residence in the Surulere neighborhood of the Camp area in Abeokuta on Friday.

Reports suggest that Ayomide invited his girlfriend, Mmasichukwu, to his home and is believed to have given her a toxic concoction, possibly a mix of brownie cakes, alcohol, and an unidentified poisonous substance.

Adding a concerning twist to the situation, Mmasichukwu had asked her classmate, Semilore, to accompany her to Ayomide's residence. Both victims reportedly lost consciousness immediately after consuming the substances, prompting urgent medical intervention.

Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident and disclosed that investigations were underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged poisoning.

"The victims were believed to have been fed brownie cake, and they immediately lost consciousness after eating it and were taken to the Osiele Medical Centre for treatment," Odutola stated. She further mentioned the discovery of a foil paper pack used for the brownie cake at the crime scene.

Both victims are currently responding to treatment, as revealed by Odutola. The suspect was handed over to the police by the Chief Security Officer of FUNAAB.
