Two staff members from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) participated in the Erasmus International Staff Training Week at the University of Jaén, Spain, from May 13 to 17, 2024.

In a significant stride towards global academic collaboration, two staff members from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) participated in the Erasmus International Staff Training Week at the University of Jaén, Spain. This prestigious event, held from May 13 to 17, 2024, was attended by Prof. Matthew Oyun of the Department of Forestry & Wood Technology (FWT) and Mr. Olalekan Lawal, a Development Officer from the Centre for Research & Development (CERAD).

The involvement of FUTA in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme (K171) underscores the university's commitment to fostering international academic exchange and collaboration. Prof. Oyun, an academic staff member and the coordinator for the Erasmus Mobility Programme at FUTA, played a pivotal role in this initiative, which aims to enhance the global exposure of both staff and students.

During their visit, the FUTA representatives also interacted with five postgraduate students from FUTA who are currently participating in a 5-month student mobility programme at the University of Jaén. The programme, which runs from February to June 2024, is an integral part of the Erasmus+ initiative. The students, who had the opportunity to meet with Prof. Oyun and Mr. Lawal, are:

2. Akinwamide Titus Oluwatoba (FWT)

3. Adegoke Margaret (FWT)

4. Olatunbosun Oluwakemi (AEC)

5. Ayodeji Folasade (BIO)

This interaction provided the students with updates and insights into their ongoing mobility programme, facilitating a more enriching educational experience.

Reacting to this development, Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Adenike Oladiji, FAS, emphasized the university's dedication to its internationalization agenda. "This participation is part of our continuous effort to deepen the internationalization drive of FUTA, aiming to make it a truly global institution," she stated.
