FUTA emerged victorious in an Inter-University football competition hosted by Igbinedion University, showcasing their skill and resilience over four days of intense matches.
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), emerged victorious in an Inter-University football tournament held at the Igbinedion University to commemorate its Silver Jubilee Anniversary. The four-day event, spanning from May 1st to 4th, 2024, showcased the prowess and resilience of FUTA's football team, the FUTA Tigers.

In an impressive display of skill and determination, FUTA secured their first victory through a walkover against Lagos State University, who failed to appear for the match. Subsequent matches saw FUTA defeating Fountain University, Osogbo, with a remarkable 4-1 scoreline, and holding the University of Benin to a 1-1 draw before clinching victory in a penalty shootout.
The final showdown against the host team, Igbinedion University, proved to be a thrilling encounter. After a hard-fought 1-1 draw in regulation time, FUTA emerged triumphant in the penalty shootout with a 5-4 victory, sealing their championship title. The trophy was presented to the FUTA Tigers' captain, Adebola Ayobami, amidst jubilation and celebration.
