The Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has gone to Harvard Kennedy School in the United State of America (USA) for a leadership course.

The Nigerian leader shared photos of himself in a classroom on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, a day when the Nigeria Labour Congress is holding protests across the nation in solidarity with the striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Recall, ASUU began its strike on February 14, 2022  before Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Allied Educational Institutions (NASU) National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) joined, over welfare of their members and state of tertiary education in the country.

He captioned the photos, “Back to class. In a leadership course at #Havard #Kennedy Forget the number of grey hairs one is never too old to learn, broaden or sharpen your skills.”

Meanwhile, Nigerians have criticized Gbajabiamila and others for making mess of the educational system in their country.

Crown Prince said; “Congratulations Rt.Hon on your commitment to learning & self improvement. My only worry is on the chances of 31 million Nig students who depend on public universities to have this opportunity. What have you done about the 5months strike in your country.”

Akintunde Babatunde said; “If universities in the USA were to be on strike, how will you be able to experience a working system? Walk around and see how basic things works in a normal university? Let’s hope you’ll return and use your influence to make our educational institutions work.”

Otaigbe Imadegbelo wrote; “Oga Femi, ASUU are on strike for over 4 months which has affected over 8 million youths directly and indirectly, your constituent has a high rate of youth roaming about streets jobless, smoking la -la, and picking what is not theirs.”
