Gombe State University Hosts International Workshop on Islamic Jurisprudence

Gombe State University's International Institute of Islamic Research and Development (IIIRD) recently organized a three-day capacity-building workshop on "Jurisprudential Rulings Related to Magic and Sorcery in Africa: An Islamic Perspective."
The event, held in collaboration with the General Authority of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Libya, took place at the Shehu Abubakar Multipurpose Hall of Gombe State University.
The workshop featured distinguished Islamic scholars from Libya, including Professor Mahmud Mohammed Ghaniyya, Sheikh Ramadan Umar Affan, Sheikh Izzudeen Abou Dabbous, and Dr. Abdulsalam Isah Qahwat. These experts delivered insightful presentations on the jurisprudential and religious aspects of magic and sorcery within the African context.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta delivered the opening address, emphasizing the significance of the workshop's theme and the need for scholarly discourse based on Islamic jurisprudence. He urged participants to engage actively, exchange knowledge, and explore solutions that would benefit academic research and the wider Muslim community.
The Director of the Institute, Professor Shamaudeen Umar Ilyas, expressed gratitude to the Acting Vice-Chancellor and all participants for their presence and contributions. The workshop provided a platform for intellectual discourse and capacity building, bringing together scholars, researchers, and students from various backgrounds.
