Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s Aide Empowers AFUED Skills Acquisition Graduates with Vital Tools

Hon. Kelvin Solomon Olaolu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Student Affairs, has donated essential tools worth thousands of naira to graduates of the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Centre (SDEC) at AFUED, Ondo.

In a bid to promote youth empowerment, Hon. Kelvin Solomon Olaolu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Student Affairs, has donated essential tools worth thousands of naira to graduates of the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Centre (SDEC) at Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo. The donations, made on Thursday, August 20, 2024, include barbing kits, hairdressing materials, cake mixers, and a sewing machine.

The event, held at the institution’s Prof. Olukoya Ogen complex, saw the Acting Vice-Chancellor of AFUED, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, expressing gratitude to Hon. Olaolu for his support and congratulating the beneficiaries. Dr. Akintunde emphasized the importance of skills acquisition in addressing unemployment, urging youths to embrace entrepreneurship and reduce dependence on white-collar jobs.

He also praised the efforts of the current and former SDEC Directors, Dr. Babajide Jelili Olalekan and Dr. M.A. Ayoola, for their contributions to the center's progress. Dr. Akintunde called for greater publicity of the SDEC’s activities through social media and the creation of a website to attract a global audience and market the center’s products.

The Director of SDEC, Dr. Babajide Jelili Olalekan, echoed the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments, thanking the university’s management for their continuous support and urging more donations from well-meaning individuals. He specifically thanked Hon. Olaolu, whose donation was part of a One-Million-Naira pledge made during a Youth Empowerment Summit at the university.

Hon. Olaolu, represented by his Senior Assistant, Ebisanmi Olusegun Solomon, explained that the donation was intended to give the graduates a strong start after completing their training. He urged the recipients to make the best use of the items, reiterating his commitment to youth development.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the tools to the graduates, with dignitaries such as Dr. Akintunde, Dr. Ayoola, Dr. Olalekan, and Mrs. Oluseto Olatuyi, Director of Information and Public Relations, in attendance.
