Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has taken a significant step towards enhancing the educational landscape in the state by officially handing over the Certificate of Occupancy for land designated to host a Federal College of Education. The ceremony, held on Tuesday, July 16th, solidified the state government's commitment to supporting federal initiatives aimed at enhancing educational opportunities.

During the handover event, Governor Otti announced the formation of a four-man committee tasked with ensuring the institution's timely establishment. Headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, the committee includes key figures such as the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Eme Uche Eme, the State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Kenechukwu Nwosu.

"The committee's mandate is to provide regular progress reports to me every two weeks," Governor Otti stated, underscoring the administration's proactive approach to meeting the Federal Government's deadline for the institution's launch by September 2024.
