Governor Umo Eno’s Edutrip to UK Ignites Passion for Learning Among Akwa Ibom Students

In a heartening display of dedication, Favour, one of the students on the Akwa Ibom/United Kingdom Edutrip, approached the Commissioner for Education yesterday with a resolute promise: “I will study hard, learn, pass my exams in flying colours and then I will apply to this school.” Her pledge followed a tour of Imperial College and a three-hour session on ‘Engineering for the Future’ with globally renowned intellectual Dr. Sunday Popoola.

The Edutrip, which features students selected from public secondary schools in rural areas across the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State, offers them a unique opportunity to experience world-class education. In addition to Imperial College, the students will undertake taster sessions at the University of Cambridge and Coventry University. Their itinerary also includes visits to the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory, The National Gallery, the Science Museum, and the Museum of Natural History.
