In a remarkable display of commitment to education and community welfare, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency, has generously cleared the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees for 1,007 students hailing from Ikwo and Ezza South local government areas of Ebonyi State.

Hon. Ogah, who also serves as the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions, announced this noble initiative, revealing that out of the total beneficiaries, 507 students are preparing for WAEC examinations, while the remaining 500 are gearing up for the JAMB examination.

These students, spanning across 31 public schools and 29 private schools within the constituency, have had their financial burden lifted, as Hon. Ogah assured that those who had already paid their fees would be duly refunded.

Explaining the motivation behind his gesture, Hon. Ogah emphasized the importance of education in societal development, echoing the recent efforts of the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, who recently announced the state's commitment to covering WAEC fees for all students. He lamented the plight of many bright yet financially disadvantaged students who are forced to abandon their education due to the inability to afford examination fees.

"I, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, on behalf of my foundation and in complementing the effort of the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, presented this cheque of N13.6 million as WAEC fees for 507 students in the State," Hon. Ogah remarked.

He further highlighted the longstanding commitment of his foundation, the Chiboy Foundation, which has been supporting students in the state for the past 15 years, particularly in covering WAEC fees. He urged other well-to-do individuals to emulate such gestures, emphasizing that education is a potent tool for lifting vulnerable students from the streets and paving the way for a brighter future.
