House of Reps to Facilitate Access to N3.2 Billion TETFUND for Kebbi Tertiary Institution

The Committee on TETFUND and Other Services of the House of Representatives has expressed its willingness to help Kebbi State Government-owned tertiary institutions access a 2024 intervention fund totaling over 3.2 billion naira. 

The funds are allocated as follows: approximately 2 billion naira for Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, and 1.2 billion naira for Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari.

During a recent visit to Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Rt. Hon. Mariam Odinaka Onoha, Chairperson of the House Committee, revealed that the funds have yet to be accessed due to some bottlenecks. She assured that the House of Representatives is prepared to resolve these issues to facilitate access.

Hon. Onoha highlighted that the committee's oversight role includes ensuring compliance with the TETFUND Act and facilitating the effective use of allocated funds. She also emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of the Act with stakeholder input.

Governor Idris praised the TETFUND intervention for strengthening the state's tertiary education sector, noting significant investments in education and ongoing projects. He expressed optimism that the institutions will soon benefit from the TETFUND allocation.

The Governor also mentioned that President Tinubu is expected to visit Kebbi to inaugurate several key projects, including the new State Secretariat Complex in Birnin Kebbi.
