IMAP is the Most Media-Friendly Academic Institution in Nasarawa State — Hon. Ahemba, SSA Public Affairs
IMAP continues to achieve significant milestones, with Hon. Ahemba praising the institution's leadership and its advancements in education, media communication, and future growth plans.
The Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia, has earned recognition as the most media-friendly and effective academic institution in Nasarawa State, particularly in the management and communication of information. This acknowledgment was made by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Nasarawa State on Public Affairs, Hon. Peter Ahemba, during a courtesy visit to the Director of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol of IMAP, Mr. Mukhtar Wakeel, on November 1, 2024.
Ahemba, who was appointed by the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, praised the institution’s progress, acknowledging that his appointment has contributed significantly to reviving the Polytechnic's lost glories. He stressed that effective image-making is a powerful tool, commending the administration's efforts to align with the policies of Governor Abdullahi Sule's leadership in Nasarawa State.
“The standard of education in Nasarawa State cannot be compromised,” Ahemba emphasized, lauding the current administration's commitment to educational excellence. He also commended the Director, Mukhtar Wakeel, for his exceptional competence, professionalism, and dedication to his duties. According to Ahemba, Wakeel's role in the Polytechnic is vital in advancing the institution’s objectives.
In response, Mukhtar Wakeel thanked Hon. Ahemba for his visit and recognized Dr. Maifata’s visionary leadership. Wakeel praised the Acting Rector for uniting and securing the Polytechnic, noting that the positive impact of Maifata’s leadership is only just beginning. He highlighted that IMAP is poised to become one of the top five most competitive polytechnics in Nigeria within the next three years.
Wakeel also revealed plans to attract international students, making IMAP a destination of choice. He outlined the Polytechnic's state-of-the-art facilities for science and engineering studies and mentioned that the Higher National Diploma (HND) program in Mass Communication is set to commence soon, following the expected resource assessment and accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The Director reiterated the administration's commitment to ensuring the security, unity, and prosperity of the Polytechnic’s staff, emphasizing that there is no room for compromise in these areas under Dr. Maifata’s leadership.
This visit and the exchanges that followed highlight the ongoing transformation at IMAP under the guidance of the current administration, as the institution continues to set high standards in education and institutional growth.
