Imo Federal Lawmaker Awards Scholarships to 114 Indigent Constituents
Engr. Akarachi Amadi, the House of Representatives Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, in Imo state, grants scholarships to 114 indigent students in his constituency.
In a bid to enhance educational opportunities for his constituents, Engr. Akarachi Amadi, the House of Representatives Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, has granted scholarships to 114 indigent students in his constituency.
Speaking at his median Legislative Agenda cum Constituency Briefing held at his country-home, Eziama-Ikeduru on Wednesday, Engr. Akarachi expressed his passionate commitment to raising the educational standards in his constituency and fostering overall growth and development. During the briefing, the lawmaker also announced the payment of Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees for 1173 students in his area.

Engr. Akarachi emphasized the deteriorating state of community and government schools in Ikeduru/Mbaitoli, prompting him to declare a state of emergency in the education sector. He pledged to collaborate with various agencies, including the state government, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Ministry of Education, Federal Government, and Donor Agencies to address the challenges in the educational system.
"In 2024, we will renovate a minimum of 7 numbers of 3 classroom blocks across Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency," he declared.
Regarding the scholarship scheme, he mentioned, "Driven by my passion and commitment to prioritizing education for young people, I have consistently sponsored scholarship programs for students, spanning from primary to university levels."
The scholarships included awards to 11 indigent pupils from Iho Comprehensive School in Ikeduru, 22 students from Umuahi Model Secondary School Umuahi Obi-Mbieri in Mbaitoli, and 81 students from Ikeduru/Mbaitoli Federal Constituency who scored 200 and above in the Free JAMB Registration sponsored by his office.
"In total, I paid for 1,173 students to take part in our Free Jamb Registration, allowing them to pursue their chosen courses in various universities across Nigeria," he added.

Akarachi also highlighted other constituency projects in infrastructure, human capacity building, community services, and palliatives. Over 10,000 bags of rice, food condiments, and other support were distributed at the event to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on constituents.
Community and political stakeholders, including Chief Marcon Nlemigbo, former State Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Desmond Ukanacho, and Dr. Uche Oguike, commended the lawmaker for his developmental achievements and urged him to do more.
