Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP) in Lafia is set to commence a Higher National Diploma (HND) program in Mass Communication. In preparation for the upcoming accreditation visit by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Acting Rector Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata inspected the department’s state-of-the-art facilities, affirming readiness for the program’s launch.
Following the inspection of the department’s multi-million Naira equipment, Dr. Maifata expressed confidence in the polytechnic’s capacity to provide competitive, hands-on training in communication. He emphasized that the department, equipped with advanced recording and live studios, would enable students to gain both theoretical and practical experience. Plans are also underway to launch live broadcasts from the department’s studio, aimed at educating and engaging the surrounding community.
Dr. Maifata called on the consulting engineers to ensure all amenities meet NBTE’s requirements. He noted that the polytechnic’s resources are on par with, if not superior to, those found in many other campus stations nationwide.
The inspection team included Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol Mukhtar Wakeel, Director of Academic Planning Dr. Ibrahim Dauda, Dean of the School of Communication Technology Florence Alu, and Head of the Mass Communication Department Larai Jakonda, among others.
