Kaduna Polytechnic Among Beneficiaries as TETFund Approves ₦7.5 Billion Research Grant for 174 Institutions

Kaduna Polytechnic is among 174 tertiary institutions nationwide set to benefit from a N7.5 billion research grant approved by the federal government through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

This achievement is linked with the commitment and dedication of the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic Dr. Suleiman Umar in educational development.

According to TETFund, the grants range from N13.6m to N49.97m each and were awarded to 174 projects to strengthen research and innovation in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The funding covers priority areas including health and social welfare, agriculture, science and engineering, power and energy, clean energy, defence technology and security studies, among others.

While top universities like Federal University of Technology, Minna with 18 grants, Federal University of Technology, Owerri with 11 grants, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with 10 grants lead the list, TETFund confirmed that newly established federal universities, state-owned institutions, polytechnics, and colleges of education also made the cut.

Polytechnics on the beneficiary list include:* Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Bida, Nekede, Mubi, Ile-Oluji, Bauchi, Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, Yaba College of Technology, Kaduna Polytechnic, and Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic Sokoto.

New federal universities: such as Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State; Federal University of Environment and Technology, Koroma/Saakpenwa, Rivers State; and Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti are also included. 

State-owned institutions like Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Ekiti State University, Kwara State University, Adamawa State University, Rivers State University, and Sokoto State University were listed.
