Kaduna State University’s College of Communication, Social, and Management Sciences (COCSOMS) has hosted its 2024 annual conference, focusing on solutions to insecurity and sustainable development in Nigeria. 

The event, opened by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) on behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, emphasized interdisciplinary collaboration to foster research and societal progress.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, represented by Dr. Abduljalal Sambo, highlighted the impact of insecurity on national growth and called for partnerships across sectors to address the issue.

Prof. Rahanatu Lawal of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, delivered a lead paper on *“The Sustainability of Development and Challenges of Insecurity,”* examining how insecurity affects development efforts and advocating for policy reforms and community-driven solutions.

Awards of excellence were presented to the Vice Chancellor, the Keynote Speaker, and Prof. Lawal. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Ayodele B. Joseph, Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication.
