Kaduna State University Hosts "Green Awareness Day" to Promote Sustainable Energy Practices
Kaduna State University (KASU) recently organized a "Green Awareness Day" to educate the university community about the importance of adopting sustainable energy practices on campus.

The event, themed "Switch to Green, Save Energy, Shape the Future," took place on Thursday, 25th April 2024, at the university's main campus.
The Green KASU and Sustainability Committee, led by Dr. Aliyu Jafar Abubakar from the Department of Geography, organized the event to raise awareness about the need for sustainable energy practices. Dr. Jafar emphasized the urgency of embracing green energy due to power supply declines and fuel price increases, which have led to harmful environmental practices like tree cutting for firewood and charcoal.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, commended the university management for supporting renewable energy initiatives and encouraged continued support from staff and students for a greener university. Representing the VC, DVC Academic, Prof. Yusha'u Ibrahim Ango, inaugurated the "Green Awareness Day" and highlighted its role in advancing KASU's sustainability efforts. He stressed the universal impact of environmental issues and the university's commitment to becoming a hub for green renewable energy in the coming years.
The event aimed to promote sustainable energy practices and raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation within the university community.
