Kano North Launches Free Transport Service for Students

The Kano North Transport Service (KNTS), an initiative by Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has announced free rides for students and pregnant women in the Kano North senatorial district. This initiative, launched to alleviate transportation challenges in the region, was confirmed in a statement by Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity.

The KNTS was inaugurated last month with a fleet of 107 vehicles. On Tuesday, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) from the district visited Senator Barau at the National Assembly in Abuja to express their gratitude.

Alhaji Abdulmajid Graba Rimingado, Chairman of NURTW in Kano North, commended Senator Barau for transforming the transport sector in the region. He assured that the vehicles would be used to meet the transport needs of the community, offering free rides for students and pregnant women in labor, along with a 25 percent discount for other residents.

Senator Barau emphasized that the KNTS was established not only to ease transportation difficulties but also to create employment opportunities. He announced plans to expand the fleet to 127 vehicles by the end of the year and urged that the service benefits all residents, irrespective of political affiliation.
