Godfrey Okoye University, led by Vice Chancellor Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, celebrates the success of its 2024 Skills Acquisition Programme and launches a new technopreneurship initiative, marking significant strides in higher education.
Godfrey Okoye University is taking significant strides in higher education under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke. In a recent event, Professor Anieke proudly received certificates for students who completed the inaugural 2024 Skills Acquisition Programme (SAP) and the Skills Acquisition Month (SAM).
These initiatives, developed by the Directorate of Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the West Africa Broadcast Media Academy (WABMA), aim to equip students from their first year through their penultimate year with essential skills. The SAP and SAM certificates underscore the university's commitment to producing graduates ready to face future challenges.
In a move to further innovate, the university's Department of Computer Science has launched a new technopreneurship programme. This initiative is designed to prepare students to become job creators upon graduation.
The Director of Entrepreneurship, Mr. Christopher Chidiebere Uwakwe, has played a pivotal role in these advancements. His leadership has resulted in 15 partnership applications for the GO Startup Incubation Centre, with many students already thriving in employment or their own business ventures on campus.
Special recognition was given to Dr. Ike Okere of WABMA, who announced scholarships for 10 staff members and reaffirmed their ongoing partnership with the university.
The university also expressed gratitude to Pro-Chancellor Prof. Christian Nwachukwu Okeke for his unwavering support and encouragement, which greatly benefits the students.
In a notable development, Mr. Uwakwe revealed that the Faculty of Law will play a crucial role in protecting the patents of university entrepreneurs. Additionally, he is set to be certified as a master trainer in entrepreneurship next month, and the directorate's influence is extending to Kenya and South Africa.
The event was attended by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Gozie Ogbodo, Registrar Dr. Nnamdi N.S Ene, Deputy Registrar, and the HOD of Computer Science, highlighting the collective effort in setting new standards in education.
Godfrey Okoye University continues to make a significant impact through these transformative initiatives.
