KHAIRUN Achieves Landmark National Certification in Data Protection Compliance

In a major leap toward institutional integrity, the Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), Kano, has been officially licensed by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) as a Data Controller/Processor of Major Importance.

This prestigious certification, issued under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, distinguishes KHAIRUN as one of the few Nigerian universities to meet the rigorous national standards for data privacy, information governance, and the safeguarding of personal data.

The Vice-Chancellor, in a statement celebrating the milestone, attributed the success to the university’s commitment to global best practices. He gave special commendation to the University Librarian, Malam Nazir Muhammad, whose professionalism and diligence were instrumental in steering the university through the complex registration process.

"This achievement reinforces KHAIRUN’s position as a forward-thinking institution that prioritizes accountability and innovation in its administrative operations," the statement noted.

By attaining this status, KHAIRUN not only secures its digital assets but also sets a benchmark for other higher education institutions in Nigeria, aligning its operations with both national law and international compliance frameworks.
