Khalifa Isyaka University of Nigeria Records Remarkable Progress, Strengthens Ties with BUK
Khalifa Isyaka University of Nigeria (KHAIRUN) has achieved remarkable progress in just three years, with significant growth in student enrollment, staff development, and infrastructure.

Khalifa Isyaka University of Nigeria (KHAIRUN) has made significant strides in its development within just three years of establishment, achieving milestones in student enrollment, staff development, infrastructural expansion, and academic growth. This was acknowledged by the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, during a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Professor Abbas lauded the rapid growth of KHAIRUN and attributed its success to the leadership of Professor Garba and the dedication of the university’s Principal Officers and Directors. He emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between BUK and KHAIRUN, particularly in research and staff development. According to him, the strong management team at KHAIRUN is a testament to its commitment to excellence.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Garba reaffirmed the purpose of the visit as a means to reinforce the cordial and mutually beneficial relationship between KHAIRUN and its parent institution, BUK. He expressed gratitude to BUK for its continuous support and guidance, which he credited as instrumental to KHAIRUN’s growth. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of key BUK officials, including Vice-Chancellor Professor Abbas, Registrar Haruna Aliyu, University Librarian Dr. Kabiru Dahiru Abbas, and Head of Public Affairs Malam Lamara Garba, for their invaluable assistance.
Highlighting KHAIRUN’s growth, Professor Garba noted that the university had expanded from an initial student enrollment of 100 to over 700. He also informed Professor Abbas of the upcoming visit by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the revalidation of KHAIRUN’s certificate, which had expired after three years. He sought BUK’s support in ensuring a smooth revalidation process.
Additionally, Professor Garba extended his congratulations to Professor Abbas on the appointment of a new set of Deputy Vice-Chancellors at BUK. He commended the selection process, emphasizing that the appointees were chosen based on their competence, experience, and outstanding track records.
The KHAIRUN delegation to BUK included the Registrar, University Librarian, Bursar, and Directors of the university. The BUK team present at the meeting comprised the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Professor Haruna Musa, Registrar Haruna Aliyu, University Librarian Dr. Kabiru Dahiru Abbas, Bursar Alhaji Rabiu Dauda, Director of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office Malam Sheriff Ahmed, Head of Special Duties Barrister Hadiza Jummai, and Head of Public Affairs Lamara Garba.
