Kwara State University to Convert Kwara Express Vehicles to Electric, Promoting Sustainable Energy

Kwara State University to Convert Kwara Express Vehicles to Electric, Promoting Sustainable Energy

Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has embarked on an initiative to convert the vehicles of the state-owned transport corporation, Kwara Express, into electric vehicles. Led by the acting vice chancellor, Prof. Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, KWASU's technical team announced the plan during a visit to the premises of Kwara Express in Ilorin, the state capital.

Prof. Jimoh expressed confidence in KWASU's technical capabilities to seamlessly convert the vehicles to electric ones. He highlighted that one of the vehicles used by his team for the visit was already converted into an electric vehicle by the institution's center.

Mrs. Mojirola Afolayan, the CEO of Kwara Harmony Holdings, which owns Kwara Express, lauded the development and thanked the state governor, AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq, for the support provided through KWASU. She emphasized that the conversion would bring significant relief to the corporation.

Engr. Yusuf Abubakar, the acting general manager of Kwara Express, welcomed the governor's decision, describing it as a positive step. He expressed optimism about the benefits of transitioning to electric vehicles.

Dr. Adesina Lambe, the director of KWASU Centre for Sustainable Energy, assured that the conversion process would commence once all necessary arrangements between the government and the institution are finalized.
