KWASU Vice-Chancellor Mourns the Passing of Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Salih

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has described the demise of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Salih as a great loss to the entire Muslim community. 

The Vice-Chancellor who was reacting to the news of the passing of the Islamic scholar noted that the late Chief Imam led the Council of Ulamah in Kwara State with integrity.

Professor Jimoh added that the late Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu was a very respected Islamic cleric who devoted his life to Islamic learning and committed service to his community.

The KWASU Vice-Chancellor commiserated with the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON; the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Maimartaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR; the Council of Ulamah; and entire Ilorin and Muslim Community.

He prayed Allah to grant the soul of the late Chief Imam Aljanah Firdaus and condole the immediate family and entire Muslim community.

The late Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Salih, died on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 75.

He was appointed as the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin in 1983 and was, until his death, a prominent and influential religious leader in Kwara State.
