Lagos State University (LASU) matriculates 1129 students into Part-Time degree programmes, as VC affirms no disparity between certificates issued to regular students and part-time students.

The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji- Bello, mni, NPOM on Friday, 28  July, 2023 affirmed to the newly matriculated part-time degree students that their certificates will not be inferior to that of the regular students and also charged them to be diligent and focused in their studies in order to consistently maintain good academic standing throughout their sojourn in the University.

Professor Olatunji-Bello made this charge while delivering her address at the 2nd matriculation ceremony for part-time degree students of the University under her watch, held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium Ojo, Lagos. She further admonished the Matriculants to positively project the image of the University, be committed and dedicated to their studies.

" Despite the flexibility of your programme, we demand equal level of commitment, dedication and discipline from you as we demand from the full-time students. Your programme runs on weekends for five academic sessions; and provides working-class students the opportunity to pursue degree programmes which certificates are in no way inferior to the regular programmes" , she stated.

"I enjoin you to attend lectures regularly, carry out all of your assignments, shun deviant behaviors, avoid indecent dressing and other vices that can expose you to danger," the Professor of Physiology added.

The Director, Directorate of School of Part-time Studies, Prof. Danoye Oguntola-Laguda in his address, assured the matriculating students of the readiness of the directorate to play its part in ensuring the success of the students and encouraged them to in turn, play their parts by being hard-working, focused and dedicated in their studies.

Also, he stated that the students were expected to go out into the world to be agents of positive change that would be the pride of the university, the state, and the nation as a whole.

The University Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. FANU was in charge of proceedings. 

The matriculation ceremony had in attendance, members of the university management, members of staff, students, parents, and well-wishers. 

This is the second set of students admitted by the Directorate, School of Part-Time Studies since the assumption of office of Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and currently the Directorate boasts of five (5) faculties and eleven(11) departments.

As part of the programme,  the Registrar administered the Matriculation pledge on the students, while the selected students' representatives signed the Matriculation register on behalf of other students.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adenike Boyo and the Permanent Secretary,  the newly established Ministry of Tertiary Institutions, Mr Waheed Kasali were also in attendance.
