Make Qur’an your guide, FULafia VC admonishes Muslims at (MSSN) Inter-Faculty Qur’anic Competition

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Chapter of the Muslims Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has organised Inter-Faculty Qur’anic Competition for students. 

In attendance at the event that held in Mallam Adamu Adamu Lecture Hall, FULafia, were the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administraion, Professor Ali Shugaba, Registrar, Nuradeen Abdu, and Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professor Muhammad Tanko Aliyu Baitullah.

The event took place on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

In his speech, Abdul Rahman charged the students to live according to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, saying that, “indeed, there is guidance in the Qur’an.”

The vice-chancellor, who warned the students against getting themselves involved in unlawful activities, said “Islam does not condone illegalities.”

Abdul Rahman called on the students to always locate solutions to their problems in the Qur’an, adding that in the Qur’an there are cures and remedies for all problems.

He said that many virtues and good character traits and moral qualities such as kindness (to people and animals), charity, forgiveness, honesty, patience, justice, respecting parents and elders, keeping promises and controlling one's anger, are commanded or encouraged in verses in the Qur’an an, enjoining Muslims to make the Qur’an the compass in their lives.

The Qur’an, he said, advocates many values that shape one’s intellectualism, adding that most importantly, these values enable adherents to be more tolerant and upright.
