Meet Dr. Nathaniel Akintomiwa Akintunde, a Principal Medical Officer at UNILORIN Health Services

He recently excelled at the 20th Genetic Counselling Training Course on Sickle Cell Disorders organized by the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria at the National Sickle Cell Centre, Lagos.

Dr. Akintunde emerged as the overall best participant among Genetic counsellors at the Closing/Certificate Award Ceremony held on Friday, 24th November 2023.

The diverse group of participants included professionals such as Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Medical Laboratory Scientists, and even a participant from Tanzania, East Africa, representing various geo-political zones of Nigeria.

Dr. Akintunde is dedicated to advocating for sickle cell awareness, aiming to alleviate the burden of Sickle Cell in Nigeria and enhance the quality of life for those battling the condition. He envisions achieving this through his emerging NGO, Bethesda Sickle Cell Initiative (BSCI).
