Meet Dr. Olawale Sulaiman, A Life-Changing Neurosurgeon

Dr. Olawale Sulaiman, a renowned neurosurgeon and professor, has dedicated his life to providing life-changing medical care to those in need.

As the chairman of neurosurgery at Ochsner Neuroscience Institute in New Orleans, USA, Dr. Sulaiman splits his time between two continents, traveling to Nigeria monthly to perform free surgeries for patients who cannot afford them.

Born in Lagos Island, Lagos, Dr. Sulaiman was raised in a modest neighborhood, where he developed a sense of compassion and empathy for others. Growing up in a polygamous family of ten children, Dr. Sulaiman's parents couldn't afford his university tuition. However, he received a scholarship to study medicine in Bulgaria through the Nigerian government's Bureau for External Aid program .

Dr. Sulaiman's medical career is marked by his commitment to giving back to his community. He co-founded RNZ Global, a healthcare development company, with his wife Patricia, which provides medical services, including neuro and spinal surgery, and health courses in Nigeria and the US. RNZ Global has treated over 500 patients and provided preventive healthcare to more than 5,000 people.

Dr. Sulaiman's work has had a significant impact on Nigerian healthcare. He has performed numerous free spinal surgeries, including a notable initiative in Kwara State, where he brought implants and equipment from the US to operate on patients with spine-related problems. His work has also inspired other medical professionals, including Dr. Yusuf Salman, who has learned from Dr. Sulaiman's techniques .

Through the RNZ Foundation, a non-profit arm of his company, Dr. Sulaiman provides free neurological care to the less privileged. His dream is to establish four world-class neuroscience centers across Nigeria, reducing the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment.

Dr. Sulaiman's philosophy is centered around giving back to the community. He believes that "happiness doesn’t come from what you get, it comes from what you give." His selfless work has earned him recognition, including the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) award from President Muhammadu Buhari .

One of his patients, Philomena Arah, underwent a life-changing laminectomy surgery, which relieved her of 15 years of crippling back pain. She testified that the surgery gave her a new lease on life, allowing her to walk, stand tall, and socialize without pain .
